WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT

My Approach:

It is crucial to find a therapist that is a good fit, therefore, I like to take the first few sessions to get to know each other and decide if we want to work together. I aim to create a warm, collaborative environment in which you feel comfortable talking about and processing the worst events that have happened to you in your life. My approach uses acceptance based strategies and mindfulness to help you increase insight as well as get in touch with your emotions, all in the service of living a richer life, more aligned with your values. As a behavior therapist, I will help you face your fears by taking action steps towards what is most important to you in life.

Prior to First Session:

A free, 15 minute consultation over the phone to determine whether my practice would be a good fit for your needs.

First Session (Intake):

Your initial appointment will be scheduled for 60 minutes. During this time, we will discuss your reasons for seeking treatment, a detailed history, and other information needed to develop a treatment plan. You will also receive written and verbal information about policies as well as a consent form.

Ongoing Sessions:

Therapy sessions generally last 45 minutes and are scheduled weekly; however certain evidence based treatments (e.g. Prolonged Exposure) require weekly, 90 minute sessions. I offer time-limited (e.g. 3-6 months) as well as longer term psychotherapy, depending on your treatment goals and presenting problem. A treatment plan will be discussed collaboratively at the beginning of therapy.

Fees:

Free 15 minute initial phone consultation
